Jay Woods Reveals His Top and Bottom Picks for Magnificent 7 Stocks in 2026 – ‘A Story to Follow’

The Magnificent Seven: Insights from Jay Woods for 2026

The Magnificent Seven stocks continue to capture the attention of investors and market analysts alike, as their performance underpins major trends in the tech industry. According to Jay Woods, Chief Market Strategist at Freedom Capital Markets, specific stocks from this elite group will play critical roles as we head into 2026.

Focus on the Big Players

In an engaging interview with Benzinga in September 2025, Woods emphasized the importance of sticking with dominant players in the tech market as we approach the fourth quarter. He notably mentioned Alphabet Inc. (GOOGL) as a long-term favorite.

"I love Alphabet over the long term. That’s one you put away," he stated confidently. After facing challenges, including antitrust litigation, Woods believes Alphabet remains undervalued, especially considering the potential growth from their Waymo division and the ongoing success of YouTube.

The Rise of Waymo and YouTube

Woods highlighted that the growth trajectory for YouTube is accelerating, which positions Alphabet favorably for the upcoming year. "That growth continues at an alarming rate," he remarked, indicating optimism about the company’s future prospects.

With the stock showing resilience and rallying in the fourth quarter of 2025, Woods sees plenty of room for upside. The anticipation surrounding Alphabet’s new projects could fortify its role as a strong investment heading into 2026.

Tesla: A Dynamic Story to Watch

Another standout among the Magnificent Seven is Tesla Inc. (TSLA). Woods is quite optimistic about Tesla’s positioning for the upcoming year.

"I think Tesla’s a story to watch in 2026," he noted, adding that CEO Elon Musk has successfully navigated various challenges, including corporate scrutiny and social media controversies. Musk’s recent compensation package, which incentivizes performance metrics related to robotics and autonomous driving, also adds an interesting layer of motivation to the narrative.

Woods looks favorably on technical trends for Tesla, pointing out breakout patterns in the stock’s one-year chart. “When you break out and now are going into a new year with momentum, this is the fuel you want to see,” he commented, further emphasizing the potential of Tesla stock to reach mid-$600s, about a 33% gain from its current levels.

Caution: Meta Platforms and Microsoft

While Woods shines a light on specific stocks, he doesn’t hesitate to flag potential risks. He expressed concern regarding Meta Platforms (META), which he believes is currently in a downtrend. “Meta has put so much money into its initiatives, but we’re not seeing the benefits," Woods articulated, emphasizing the need for the company to demonstrate results in their upcoming quarterly report.

The Microsoft Dilemma

Woods also indicated that Microsoft Corp (MSFT) may face challenges as we move into 2026. He flagged the $475 level as crucial; should Microsoft break below this, it could signal further downside risk.

"There’s a topping formation developing that has me a little concerned," he explained, hinting at the uncertainty surrounding Microsoft’s performance in the coming year.

The NVIDIA Outlook

Another of Woods’ noteworthy reflections concerns NVIDIA Corp (NVDA). While he acknowledges that NVIDIA may have a good year, he casts doubt on whether the stock will experience explosive growth. "I just don’t know if we’re going to see that explosive growth to the upside from a stock performance point of view," he commented.

In a surprising twist, Woods prefers Micron Technology Inc. (MU) over NVIDIA for potential growth in 2026, suggesting that the latter may struggle to deliver investor expectations.

Stocks on the Sidelines: Amazon and Apple

Two notable names, Amazon.com (AMZN) and Apple Inc. (AAPL), were not included in Woods’ top or bottom strategies for the Magnificent Seven. As the market continues to evolve, both companies might face challenges that keep them off the radar in the short term.

While the future of the Magnificent Seven stocks remains uncertain, Woods’ insights provide a practical framework for investors to analyze and navigate this ever-changing landscape. As we inch closer to 2026, the decisions made now could significantly influence portfolio strategies, making it an exciting yet cautious time for tech investors and market participants alike.
