Salem, Va. – The University of Lynchburg indoor track & field teams continued their successful start to the 2025-2026 campaign at the Finn Pincus Invitational in Salem, Va., and Virginia Tech Invitational in Blacksburg, Va. The athletes not only displayed remarkable talent but also showcased their determination by achieving multiple personal bests and even setting a new women’s 300m school record.
At the Finn Pincus Invitational, a sizable portion of the team journeyed to Roanoke College, while a select few competed against Division I opponents at Virginia Tech’s formidable Rector Field House.
Finn Pincus Invitational (Salem, Va.)
In a standout performance, senior Rylee Turner made her mark by setting the indoor school record for the Hornets. She clocked a phenomenal 42.03 seconds in the women’s 300m, finishing third overall. Meanwhile, teammate Madelyn Boyce kept the momentum going with a fifth-place finish at 43.31 seconds.
On the men’s side, Isaiah Davis secured a fifth-place finish with a personal record of 36.69 seconds, while James Young followed closely behind, taking ninth place in 38.04 seconds.
In the long jump, Micah Leech soared to a personal best of 23′ 6¼” (7.17m), earning him the ninth-best result in Division III. Demetri Hinton also shone bright, achieving a personal record of 22′ 3½” (6.79m) for a sixth-place finish.
Leech and Hinton not only excelled in long jump but also made their presence felt in the triple jump. Hinton’s leap of 46′ 7½” (14.20m) clinched him second place, while Leech followed with a fourth place, jumping 46′ ½” (14.03m).
In the women’s 600m, Samaria Little emerged victorious with an impressive personal best of 1:45.21, while Parker Marshall secured second in the men’s category, completing the race in 1:23.73.
Charlotte Bunting continued to establish herself with a remarkable second place in the women’s 800m, clocking 2:33.12, and Annalise Williams made a strong return, finishing fourth with a time of 2:37.03.
In the 60-meter dash semifinals, both Brianna Taylor and Michael Coley fell just short of the finals, yet achieved personal bests. Taylor clocked times of 8.09 in prelims and 8.06 in the semifinals for a tenth-place finish, while Coley finished with a personal-best time of 7.19 in the first round and 7.25 in the semifinals, landing him in sixteenth place.
In the men’s 60-meter hurdles, Antaveon Steele finished fourth in the finals with an 8.54-second time, having qualified with 8.47 seconds in the preliminaries.
In the high jump, Aidan Hipp shared the podium with Eastern Mennonite’s Ahsan Abul-Qasim, both surpassing the bar set at 6′ 5″ (1.96m). On the women’s side, Margo Fox emerged victorious, scoring a height of 5′ 1″ (1.55m) while competing in her pentathlon event.
Kacey Kelly showcased her versatility by achieving third place in the women’s triple jump at 37′ 5″ (11.40m) and a fifth place in long jump with a measurement of 16′ 10½” (5.14m). Furthermore, Kenzie Swicegood shined with a fourth-place finish in the women’s shot put at 36′ 10½” (11.24m) and fifth in the weight throw, reaching 47′ 2½” (14.39m).

Virginia Tech Invitational (Blacksburg, Va.)
Meanwhile, at the Virginia Tech Invitational, Hannah Edwards displayed incredible strength in the women’s 800m, battling her way to a fourth-place finish with a time of 2:18.33, a significant improvement from her previous mark of 2:22.98.
Lamont Victoria continued to prove his mettle, placing second in the men’s high jump by clearing the bar at a height of 6′ 7″ (2.02m). Since joining the Hornets, Victoria has consistently earned podium finishes, showcasing his dedication and skill as an athlete.
