Ammie Pearse and her partner were told by a concerned neighbor that their home was engulfed in flames. Upon returning home, Pearse faced the heartbreaking reality of watching her home reduced to mere ashes. “When we made it home, it was gone,” she said, recalling the moment she realized her entire life had been lost in an instant.

The fire, which Pearse suspects was caused by an electrical fault, claimed not only their belongings but also irreplaceable mementos. Among the terrifying losses was the ashes of Pearse’s daughter, who tragically passed away in August 2024 due to an overdose of fentanyl. This loss added a layer of profound grief to an already overwhelming situation. “I gave my best friend a necklace that had ashes in it, and she gave it to me back,” Pearse noted, sharing that she does still possess this small connection to her daughter.
