Invitation-Only Forum – Global Economic Cooperation 2026

MUMBAI, India – Jan. 18, 2026 – In a significant gathering set against the backdrop of Mumbai, the inaugural Global Economic Cooperation 2026 (GEC 2026) will take place from February 17 to 19. This exclusive forum, convened by the Future Economic Cooperation Council (FECC) in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Government of Maharashtra, promises to be a nexus for senior policymakers, global CEOs, investors, and leaders from multilateral institutions both from India and around the globe.

The Purpose of GEC 2026

As we navigate an increasingly multipolar world, GEC 2026 has been designed to explore how economic diplomacy, cooperation, and capital alignment must adapt. The summit will address the profound structural shifts impacting global commerce, investment flows, and economic governance. Participants will delve into various topics, including infrastructure financing, advanced manufacturing, technology systems, energy transitions, and resilient supply chains. It aims to reshape the narrative around economic cooperation, extending beyond mere trade.

Key Leadership and Guidance

The Future Economic Cooperation Council is steered by a distinguished governing body. At the helm is Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra, serving as Chief Patron. Supporting him are Mr. Vijay Chauthaiwale, in charge of Foreign Affairs for the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Ms. Priyam Gandhi-Mody, Founder of the Vishwamitra Research Foundation, both holding directorial roles. Their collective insights and leadership will play a crucial role in shaping the discussions and outcomes of the forum.

Thematic Discussions

Structured engagements during GEC 2026 will encompass high-level plenaries and closed-door dialogues. Selected areas of focus will include:

  • Economic Corridors and Investment Partnerships: Exploring cooperative frameworks to enhance trade and investment flows across regions.
  • Digital Connectivity and ESG Frameworks: How to navigate the technological revolution while ensuring Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles are upheld.
  • Emerging Technologies Governance: Deliberating on the regulations and frameworks needed to manage and harness the potential of cutting-edge technologies.

Vision for a Resilient Economic Future

Priyam Gandhi-Mody envisions GEC 2026 as a pivotal moment for the global economy. She emphasizes the need for countries to bolster their economies against fragmentation, protectionism, and uncertainty. "Through Global Economic Cooperation 2026, India is stepping forward to convene governments, investors, and industry leaders to shape practical pathways for cooperation," she states, stressing the importance of navigating the complexities of a multipolar world.

Geopolitics and Economic Engagement

Mr. Vijay Chauthaiwale highlights that in today’s environment, the economic landscape is deeply intertwined with geopolitics. Under the guidance of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, India has established robust partnerships with global leaders. Hosting GEC 2026 signifies India’s commitment to crafting cooperative economic frameworks that not only serve national interests but also promote global stability.

Engaging Future Leaders

On the summit’s third day, an exciting initiative called the Emerging Leaders Circle will launch. This platform aims to engage young business minds and aspiring leaders through curated panels and discussions centered around global economic change and innovation. Collaborating with top academic institutions like the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and Columbia University, this initiative underscores the forum’s commitment to nurturing the next generation of global economic leadership.

Envisioning Economic Corridors of Cooperation

The ideal behind the Global Economic Cooperation platform is to foster a world where economic corridors act as conduits of cooperation. The ambition is to ensure that equitable access to trade, connectivity, and inclusivity fosters peace and mutual prosperity. GEC 2026 is envisioned as an annual gathering, assembling ministerial leadership, sovereign investors, and key industry figures across sectors such as infrastructure, logistics, clean energy, and technology.

The Future Economic Cooperation Council

The FECC serves a crucial role as a strategic platform aimed at advancing dialogue and collaboration in today’s rapidly changing global environment. By positioning India as a facilitator of inclusive, forward-thinking economic partnerships, FECC aims to connect emerging and advanced economies. Its focus on high-impact convenings and strategic initiatives highlights India’s growing diplomatic and economic leadership on the world stage.

This summit represents not just an event but a blossoming of collaborative efforts that seek to redefine economic engagement in a world marked by new narratives and partnerships. The discussions to take place at GEC 2026 could shape the contours of global economic policies and strengthen ties among nations.
