UPCOMING EVENT – ANNUAL BEE DAY

Mark your calendars for the much-anticipated Annual Bee Day, an event that promises a delightful mix of education, fun, and community spirit! This year, the festivities will take place on Saturday, August 16, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 100 North Herritage Street. Every year, this event attracts families, beekeeping enthusiasts, and curious individuals eager to learn more about these amazing pollinators.

The highlight of the day will undoubtedly be the observation hive. This unique setup allows attendees to observe the fascinating world of bees up close, providing an opportunity to see how bees communicate, work together, and create honey. Moreover, there will be various demonstrations showcasing beekeeping techniques, hive management, and sustainable practices. Whether you’re a seasoned beekeeper or someone who’s simply curious about these crucial helpers of our ecosystem, there’s something for everyone. Families are encouraged to bring their children, making it a perfect day out for all ages!

THE MOST WONDERFUL LOCAL PRODUCE

Don’t miss out on the fantastic array of fresh produce available at the TC Smith Produce market on August 1, 2025. As summer reaches its peak, the market will offer the last of the juicy corn and tomatoes, as well as a delightful selection of seasonal fruits and vegetables:

  • Squash, zucchini, onions, pickling cucumbers, long greens

  • Possibly okra

  • Blueberries (season ending soon)

  • Peaches, canary melons, Black Jack watermelon, seeded watermelon, yellow meat watermelon

  • Sweet potatoes, collards, kale, cooked collards

  • Red and white potatoes

  • Possible: green butterbeans, speckled butterbeans

  • Dixie Lee field peas

B & B Eggs and Crafts

Another highlight is the ever-popular Sandra from B & B Eggs and Crafts, who will bring her rave-worthy pasture-raised chicken eggs. If you have any spare 12-count egg cartons lying around, please bring them along for recycling. It’s a small gesture that can go a long way in supporting sustainable practices!
