Y’all… right now is the peak of our local produce season! There is so much fresh produce grown right here in Lenoir County soil. It’s the perfect time to have vegetables on your table at every meal — it just doesn’t get any better than this.
Yes, it’s incredibly hot, but think how much hotter it is for the farmers who grow, harvest, load, deliver, unload, and sell this produce — all in the same stifling heat. That’s a tough day.
Let’s make the effort to leave our air-conditioned homes, drive to the market, and support these farmers who bring us fresh produce, eggs, native plants, baked goods, and handcrafted items.
Here’s what you can expect this weekend:
PRODUCE
Canary melons, yellow and Black Jack watermelons, corn (shucked and unshucked), okra, string beans, cantaloupe, squash, zucchini, onions, bell peppers, jalapeños, red and white potatoes, sweet pickling cucumbers, long green cucumbers, green tomatoes, Cherokee Purple tomatoes, and Romas.
