Meet Today’s Dogs of the Day: Pepper, Champ, Lola, and Kermit
Introducing Pepper
Today, we start with Pepper, a charming canine submitted by Jason Williamson from VUMC IT. This delightful pup was rescued as a puppy and is now thriving at the age of 8. Jason describes Pepper as a delightful blend of breeds: “40% supermutt, and 60% American bulldog, terrier, rottweiler, and chow chow.” This remarkable mix not only gives Pepper a unique appearance but also a vibrant personality that shines through in every wag of her tail.
Along with the typical love for treats and belly rubs that so many dogs exhibit, Pepper showcases a resilience that speaks volumes about her journey from a rescue pup to a beloved member of Jason’s family. Her story is a gentle reminder of the joy and companionship that a rescued pet can bring into our lives.
The Adorable Trio: Champ, Lola, and Kermit
Next up are three spirited companions: Champ, Lola, and Kermit, submitted by Jenna Rodriguez of the Children’s Heart Program. Each of these dogs brings a distinct flair to Jenna’s household, making them a lovable trio that many would envy.
-
Champ, the bull terrier, is the friendly giant of the group. He loves nothing more than to play with his tire swing, always finding unique ways to engage with it. Of course, his affectionate nature means he often enjoys getting extra close, literally sitting on your toes to ensure no one feels left out.
- Lola and Kermit, the French Bulldogs, contribute their own mix of fun, quirks, and charm. Known for their snorting and cuddling prowess, these two carry a certain regal air, letting everyone around them know that they are indeed the true bosses of the household. Their playful antics and protective instincts create a vibrant atmosphere filled with laughter and joy.
Jenna affectionately describes her trio, capturing the heartwarming essence of having multiple dogs who each have their personality yet blend beautifully together.
The Role of Pets of the Day
The Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) celebrates the joy that pets bring to our lives through its "Pets of the Day" feature. This initiative showcases the heartwarming pets belonging to VUMC staff, allowing employees to share their beloved companions with the broader community.
In each edition of the MyVUMC News newsletter, published twice weekly, selected pets are highlighted from hundreds of entries submitted to the VUMC Voice Pet Photo Contest. This initiative not only brings light and laughter to the workplace but also fosters a sense of community among staff members through the shared love for their pets.
How to Participate
For those who have pets and wish to join in on this delightful celebration, keep an eye on the upcoming dog photo contest announcements. Details will be shared in the MyVUMC News, providing an opportunity for more pets to be featured in future editions. Past entries are not only celebrated through Pets of the Day but also organized and displayed regularly on the VUMC Voice site, making for a rich digital scrapbook of the furry friends who share life with VUMC staff.
