JMU Football’s Transfer Portal Surge: 19 New Additions and 25 Commitments

James Madison University (JMU) football is on the rise, with the recent influx of talent through the transfer portal capturing attention in the college football landscape. Under the strategic guidance of the coaching staff, including Associate Athletic Director for Football Personnel, Jacob LaFrance, the Dukes are not only adding depth to their roster but also building a formidable team for the upcoming seasons.

A Growing Roster: 19 Players Through the Transfer Portal

The excitement surrounding JMU football stems from the program’s aggressive recruitment strategies, with 19 transfer players already committed. This surge reflects a commitment to enhancing the team’s competitiveness, especially as they navigate the challenges of the Sun Belt Conference. Each new addition brings unique skills and experiences, enriching the overall talent pool.

Commitment Updates: The Future Looks Bright

Recently, LaFrance revealed an impressive statistic: the Dukes now have 25 commitments from 53 official visits. This high conversion rate showcases JMU’s appeal to prospective players, highlighting both its strong football culture and the potential for development at the collegiate level.

Spotlight on Potential Mystery Commits

As the anticipation builds for upcoming announcements, several players stand out. Here’s a closer look at some key individuals who might soon join team JMU:

Tyler Brown, OL, Colorado
Tyler Brown is an experienced offensive lineman who transferred from Colorado after a noteworthy college career. Having played in various competitive leagues, including the Big 12 and the Sun Belt, Brown’s versatile background makes him a valuable asset. With over 1,800 career snaps under his belt, he is poised to step into a starting role at JMU, likely securing the guard position. His recent visit to JMU could indicate a strong possibility of commitment.

Noah Grevious, WR, VMI
Hailing from Charlottesville, Noah Grevious has a familial tie to the Dukes—his father played for JMU, making this potential commitment particularly nostalgic. Following a stellar freshman season at VMI, where he accumulated over 700 receiving yards, Grevious might bring both skill and a deep connection to the program, positioning him as a likely impact player for the Dukes in the 2026 season.

Lathan Croley, LB, Holy Cross
At just 6 feet and 210 lbs, Lathan Croley may not fit the traditional linebacker mold, but what he lacks in size, he makes up for in speed and tenacity. Collecting 80 tackles as a sophomore at Holy Cross, Croley has proven that he can perform at a high level. Recently offered by JMU after his visit, he could pair exceptionally well with returner Gannon Weathersby, creating one of the most athletic linebacker duos in the Sun Belt.

Damier Minkah, CB, Shepherd
At 6’2” and 190 lbs, Damier Minkah is a cornerback with a promising future. He’s currently drawing interest from several programs, including power conference school Iowa State. With his recent visit to JMU, the opportunity for early playing time could make the Dukes an appealing choice, especially as they bolster their defensive lineup.

Josiah Graham, DE, Monmouth
Demonstrating prowess on the field, Josiah Graham recorded 9.5 sacks in the 2025 season. As a Virginia native, he recently visited JMU and received multiple offers, positioning the Dukes as a leading contender for his commitment. His ability to disrupt opposing offenses could be a game-changer for JMU’s defensive strategy.

Other Prospects to Keep an Eye On

In addition to these promising recruits, several other players are under consideration. Notable names include Mason Purham, a defensive end from Emory & Henry, who has shown potential, as well as ETSU offensive lineman Frankie Tinilau and Florida’s Enoch Wangoy. Defensive end Terell Thomas from Washburn also remains a name to track closely as the recruitment process unfolds.

The influx of transfers and commitments signifies an exciting phase for JMU football, with each new player bringing their experience and skills to the roster. As the team prepares for the upcoming season, the Duke’s strategic recruitments could lay a solid foundation for continued success in the Sun Belt Conference.
