Families across Spokane are in for a treat this winter! Spokane Public Schools and LaunchNW are teaming up to present the Engage In Real Life Winterfest at the picturesque Riverfront Park. This vibrant event invites families to connect while enjoying a plethora of free winter activities designed to foster community spirit.
Admission and Check-In
Admission to this delightful celebration is free, making it accessible for everyone. However, attendees need to check in at the Pavilion to receive wristbands that grant access to the various activities. This ensures a smooth experience, so it’s best to arrive early and get set for an exciting day.
Exciting Attractions and Activities
Winterfest is packed with exciting attractions that are sure to enchant kids and adults alike!
One of the highlights is the historic Looff Carousel, featuring 59 beautifully hand-carved wooden creatures. Families can take a leisurely ride and engage in a fun ring toss game that’s perfect for guests of all ages.
For those who love ice skating, the Numerica Skate Ribbon is a must-visit. Set against the stunning backdrop of the park, families can glide along this 650-foot ribbon of ice. Equipment rentals are provided through the generous support of the Innovia Foundation, making it easy for families to participate without the hassle of bringing their own gear.
Additionally, the Mobius Discovery Center will open its doors with free admission, featuring hands-on exhibits that engage children’s curiosity and creativity. The center operates on a timed schedule with four sessions throughout the day, accommodating up to 225 visitors per session. It’s recommended to arrive early to secure a spot, as entry is first-come, first-served.
Community Connections and Special Events
The Gesa Pavilion serves as the bustling central hub for community organizations and special performances. Guests can explore a pop-up shop by Global Neighborhood Thrift & Vintage, which promises to add a unique shopping twist to the day. In a special giveaway, the first 100 families to register will receive a complimentary copy of "10 Rules for Raising Kids in a High-Tech World," generously provided by Washington Trust Bank.
For fans of theater, there’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with the cast members of Disney’s The Lion King. A special conversation will take place at the First Interstate Center for the Arts from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., focusing on the musical’s music and puppetry. While admission is free, families are encouraged to register in advance to secure their spot for this special event.

While food is not provided during the Winterfest festivities, attendees can enjoy delicious concessions available from Red Rock Catering and Feast World Kitchen.
